Magical Readathon [NEWTs] Announcement & TBR

Hey Everyone!

Today I’ll be finally telling you about the Magical Readathon that is going on this month. I’m going to go ahead and link my OWLs post which has the hosts twitters and the discord already.

There is a new prompt sheet though, so I’ll post that for you all here and the career sheet here.

Now I was going for Healer in the OWLs but didn’t read all that I needed, so I decided to go with Ministry Worker. For my NEWTs I haven’t quite decided which type of ministry worker I’d like to do, but it’s going to have to be either Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes or Department of Mysteries, mainly because the others require a class to have been passed in the OWLs that I didn’t do.

Let’s get into my TBR, for Ministry worker I have to get A’s in Charms, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Potions and Transfiguration. Along with that depending on which Department I go into I either need O’s in Charms and Transfiguration [accidents and catastrophes] or 4 O’s in my selected diciplines [mysteries]. That adds up to either 8-14 books this month.

I’ll start off now with the main ‘classes’ for Ministry worker

A- Charms: gorgeous cover ~ Children of Eden

A- DADA: black under the dust jacket ~ Thunder of Time

A- Potions: Friend’s Favourite book ~

A- Transfiguration: LGBTQIA+ rep ~ I Wish You All the Best

Now for Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes

E- Charms: comic/GN/manga OR less than 150 pages ~

O- Charms: paperback ~ Radioactive Evolution

E- Transfiguration: not the first in the series ~ Plague Land: No Escape

O- Transfiguration: 500+ pages ~

Last up Department of Mysteries

E- DADA: first book you just remembered from your TBR ~

O- DADA: English author OR set in England ~

I could go a couple different ways from here I could do Charms and Transfiguration like above and potions OR

A- Arithmancy: ends on even page # ~ Aurora Rising

E- Arithmancy: standalone ~

O- Arithmancy: 350+ pages

A- Astronomy: moon on cover or in title ~

E- Astronomy: ‘night’ in book or series title ~

O- Astronomy: sci-fi OR stars on cover ~

+ one of above.

All the lovely blanks there are ones I’m not sure about yet, if you have any suggestions please let me know in the comments!

Happy Reading
